The Countdown Continues. Number 14: OK KO: “You're in Control” | yahoo201027's Top 20 Countdown of 2018

So…um…OK KO fandom…it’s been a while since uh…what happened on Friday, you know, when your fandom lost to the Soul Eater fandom 48-100. I mean Jesus, you were supposed to have a happy ending and you guys decided to blow it all away? Anyway, coming in at Number 14, despite that little somewhat of a biased rant already gave it away, remember TKO? Well…he’s back on the list as KO and his friends deal with a massive headache of a new robot from Lord Boxman and it’s up to KO, with the help of TKO while keeping him maintained, to save the day in OK KO, “You’re in Control”.

Well, another episode of OK KO and another episode that features TKO in the mix to be on the list since his debut back last year when he kicked off the list for 2017. Lo and behold, he’s back at it again as the episode mostly focuses on KO and him trying to balance with TKO and keep him under control when facing off against a new threat coming from Lord Boxman that was just introduced at the end of the last episode before this very episode. Thus putting that into play.

Almost seems like with, the closest thing that I can reference that I can come up with when it comes to KO trying to keep in balance with his turbonic self is with Naruto with his thing to maintain the Nine Tailed Fox that later resulting in him gaining the Nine Tails Chakra form in use for the Shinobi World War where with KO trying to maintain with TKO, that’s somewhat of a different story. Yeah, there were some help involve. Naruto did it by himself, but Kushina, his mother, helped him out. Where to KO, mostly himself as well in the line of battle, but also his friend Dendy.

Dendy being the supportive drive for KO for him to maintain TKO. Not since “Mystery Science Fair 201x” with Dendy deciding to help his friend out tackling his little problem with his turbonic alter ego, Running tests on him. Making sure he can go to that form without him going mentally insane and raising the ooze to kill mode up to eleven. But of course, that test failed and Dendy has to come in and of course, positivity to KO because TKO is based on negative thoughts, mostly on himself, thinking that he’s weak, spineless, not ready for whatever life might throw at him. That’s the trigger point that brought the turbonic version of himself came to be thanks to his encounter with Shadowy Figure. Oh and Rad and Enid disallow Dendy for getting KO to transform into TKO, mostly due to their encounter with him back last year with him damaging the bodega and of course, Rad with almost every bone in his body broken and kind of made him his bitch. Yeah, let’s go with that.

And of course, during the battle with Boxman Jr, don’t call her out just yet as she, Enid, and Rad head down to the battlefield as the battle progress between both Junior and TKO. Apologizing to Dendy for them being melodramatic over her running some tests on KO and decided to send some positivity to KO as well. Even though KO is having a tough time as TKO and possibly losing the fight against Boxman Jr. But that right there, finally got KO to find common ground with TKO because when TKO want to continue to fight, instead of fighting in the battlefield against Boxman Jr, KO decided to come up with a punch bag as he now steps in to finish the fight as himself. With his own powers. With somewhat of a mixture with TKO, but beyond the point, enter the arena and finish the job.

Boxman Jr…pretty much a replica to the character of Bowser Jr from the Mario series. While silly yes mostly of two things, one being the design. I mean yeah, it looks like a miniature version of Boxman himself and he even have a ride of his own. Wreaking havoc. Causing trouble for everyone over at the Bodega. Like, how the hell did something that looked silly became that dangerous. The other being a Boxmore bot and you already know the answer, take care of it, destroy it, then waste the rest of your day. Nope. Not this time around because this isn’t like the Boxmore bots that they faced like with Darrell, Shannon, or Raymond. This was a massive threat to them enough for KO to transform into TKO to take on the child sized version of Boxman following watching his friends and his mother being knocked down in down. And it caused KO some trouble as well as TKO while maintaining his turbonic self. But of course at the end of the day, the hero prevails. Now with both sides of KO now in balance…and check. And down goes Boxman Jr. And also Lord Boxman’s job. And you can all thank to this person…

Darrell. Thinking that he’s Boxman’s favorite when watching versions of himself being made and ready to go for use, once he saw Lord Boxman with Boxman Jr ready to be sent out to attack the plaza, and Boxman saying that his full-grown attention now goes to his newest creation, he became hurt, angry, livid, and upset over Boxman’s attention. Think that he’s gonna back out and do nothing? Nope. Decided to take matters into his own hands. The most evilest thing that he can ever think of. You think that we’re gonna end up seeing that, only to be a massive time waster with only seeing KO taking Boxman Jr, don’t get me wrong, nothing wrong with the fight, but once Darrell decided to come up with an idea to get Boxman to change his affection towards him, would’ve been…let’s say somewhat of a decent subplot, just for laughs. Nope, jump over to the aftermath following KO finally winning his battle against Boxman Jr. Getting praise from everyone and of course, his POW card getting a major boost and got promoted from a Level 0.5 to a Level 1 (episodes later in Season 2, KO’s now a Level 3), switch over to a funeral for Boxman Jr. Darrell coming in wearing a sailor suit. Boxman acting pissy over Darrell and his actions and threatens him to be sent to the furnace but remember when he was upset that Boxman shows his affection towards Boxman Jr and that made Darrell peeved off and decided to come up with the diabolical plan that he can ever come up with? Well…the most diabolical plan that he can come up with is…calling Boxman’s client that he’s been busy attacking the plaza. And now been told to be fired to the sun. Or in latent terms…

Yep. Because of Boxman’s action to send out a miniature version of himself to attack at the plaza, his client Cosma decided to fire him. With the help of an army of Darrells to put in the cannon and launches him straight towards the sun and blasting off again. So with Boxman now no longer holding the leadership position. Here’s who’s the new leader of the company is gonna be?

Yep, Darrell. Dressing up as a cowboy as he now sits on the chair that used to belong to Boxman, though not anymore, and thus ending the episode with the business now under new management. You’ve been told not to attack the plaza and what did you do? You attacked the plaza and now you’re gone…back to the Earth’s atmosphere, try to get his job back, getting some help from KO, Rad, and Enid, decided not to do so, and somehow now lives with Venomous and Fink. Oh sorry, spoilers.

So yeah, Number 14 of the Top 20 Countdown. Reason why I put it on this is mostly because of the idea of how KO has come so far when it comes to TKO since having that now locked up on his mind back last year.

Sure, in this episode, it shows that he’s been having some trouble maintaining him and trying to go into the form without going batshit crazy and wanting to destroy anything in his path with the help of Dendy, who’s been running some tests on since the science fair episode, let’s face it, if it weren’t for Dendy, KO would still have massive trouble with TKO and look how that somehow worked out between the two after the events of this episode and even combined their strength later on against “Shadowy Figure” in the Season 2 episode “TKO’s House”.

Boxman Jr, although his design would be silly looking and thought he was gonna be another one of those robots from Boxman and give the guys over at the Bodega an easy take like it’s a cakewalk but no, that was the toughest bot that they had to face. Especially for KO as he had to get TKO to do the job, voluntarily, to take on the massive threat that been threatening the bodega. And that right there shows that even TKO, despite him being a massive battle hungry alter ego who loves the bite out of a battle, also shows some trouble against the bot that it would take both him and KO to find some common ground and uses both his and TKO’s abilities to take down the bot. And the bot would end up being Boxman’s demise. Out of a job thanks to Darrell because he’s not being appreciated. I know that sounds like how a five year old would do in an argument with his or her sibling when it comes to who’s the parent’s favorite. But yeah, Boxman’s now out of a job and Darrell’s now the new boss of Boxmore. And as for Boxman Jr, out of our hair for good. And it looks like things are going KO’s way once the battle was over with. So that’s something. That was something alright.

But yeah, that was Number 14 on the Top 20 Countdown for 2018. Number 13, staying with Cartoon Network with another series and it’s a double header and that one of course, kicked off the year with, you could say, a bang. In the form of being on a stolen ship only to be separated in battle and crash in a jungle planet. Yeah, let’s go with that. So stay tuned for that. Follow me on Tumblr, Twitter, and Instagram for updates and fandom posts. And of course, if you want to help the page out…

Donate to either one of these three to spend your cold hard cash to help me out getting this page through the new year. And so, with that, that’s the end of Number 14 in the Top 20 Countdown and I’ll see y’all for Number 13 in the Top 20 Countdown of 2018.
