Fandom Update: The Owl House Season 2 and Central Park Season 2 Comic-Con Panels Recaps

Day two of Comic-Con has come and gone and we got interesting stuff to know regarding the two shows that I’ll be talking about from today’s pair of panels in the form of both Central Park and The Owl House. Both shows are currently in their second seasons and noticing that both panels are pre-recorded weeks or months in advance, we could have some information that been already been given away weeks ago as the season goes on. Though I think we’re nearing the mid-season finale for both shows. I think that The Owl House could be entering that come August, but Central Park, they will split the season with Episode 8 dropping this upcoming Friday would be the last one before hiatus. So let’s recap both panels from both shows and we begin with The Owl House. Huge spoiler alert for anyone who have NOT caught up in the latest episodes of the show. Look away. Scroll down unless you’re not caught up with Central Park. In that case, why the fuck are you even here? Go watch!

Starting off with The Owl House and not a lot to talk about in the first minutes of the panel with the show and showcasing and also revealing some information about the town that both Luz and the Golden Guard, i.e. Hunter, crashed land thanks to Kikimora coming in with a surprise attack to take the Palismen to be delivered for Emperor Belos to consume. Found out...the town, named Latissa...is located on the part of the armpit of the Titan. Yeah...the armpit of the Boiling Isles. And knowing that Bonesborough is located by...I wanna say the chest of the Titan and knowing that the Titan is a gigantic being that is pretty much almost the size of New Jersey but standing up and it would be the size of the Mississippi River Valley.

Though nothing else to say for the panel other than glossing through the design of the town of Latissa, which is a really nice design when it comes to the background to the coloring going from one studio here in the US to overseas to an animation studio in South Korea. Giving it the nightlife you would see in animation, whether being western or in anime. So props to the animators for making the scene look alive when both Luz and Hunter wander around the town. And “Hunting Palismen” is a pretty good episode and I think everyone agrees with that notion. Season 2 as a whole so far doesn’t miss. It doesn’t miss. No bad episodes since the start of the season back in June and my god, it looks like there’s no stop. I’m not saying it in a bad way, I want that shit to continue with the character development, the worldbuilding, the lore...it’s like an endless buffet being served to the fans after almost nine months without any new Owl House content.

And it looks like the next pair of episodes in the coming weeks, this gravy train ain’t stopping at its station. We just had “Eda’s Requiem” aired earlier today and again, a very good episode focusing on Eda and introducing us to the character of Raine Whispers. We got one coming next Saturday, July 31, with “Knock, Knock Knockin’ on Hooty’s Door”. So it looks like we got a Hooty episode. I mean...to be fair, Season 1...Hooty had been pretty much the butt of the show with anyone getting annoyed with the door being, but once you get to “Agony of a Witch” where he made the Emperor’s guards like total bitches, led by the person who would later become friends with the owl door once defecting the coven.

Though August seems rather interesting with only two episodes before I guess a mid-season hiatus with “Eclipse Lake”, which reveals Eda, King, and Amity heading off to find a cure for Luz, who fell sick. And I guess a leaked image that been roaming around showing Eda, King, Amity, and Hunter in captivity with Amity showing a Palismen of her own. And then there’s the next one before the supposed hiatus in “Yesterday’s Lie”, in which have Luz thinking that she found a way back home to the Human Realm, but somehow showing some conflicting decisions. Probably once she makes it back home, she has to explain to her mother, Camilla, about where she went and how she’s been doing...not knowing that at the end of “Keeping Up A-fear-ances” where you have the so-called “Creepy Luz” appearing by giving Camilla a box of tissues after watching a documentary. So Luz seeing his doppelganger taking her spot would be a surprising idea with her thinking that she’s been replaced. That and also if Luz were to find a portal, then her messages to her mom would be sent and that’s where things become more interesting. Hence, the scene from the trailer with a lot of images in the ol’ conspiracy board in the background. Not noticing that Belos is on the verge of completing the portal door. Keep a note on that one...

Oh yeah, and there’s also some Amphibia because they have to share a panel including a clip for the show’s third season with Anne finally reunited with her parents and the Planters introducing themselves to the Boonchuys. Not to mention, a little preview for Disney’s new show “Ghost and Molly McGee” with voice actress Ashly Burch taking the role as the main lead. The voice was a dead giveaway, so there’s that. And also you have the cast of both The Owl House and Amphibia doing a little table read of a crossover that the fans wanted for years and after being locked in our houses for a year...yeah, they got their wish. The fan art by the time the article is dropped would already be filling up the tag along with their love of the Eda and Raine pairing and continuous Lumity content. Funny enough regarding Anne and Luz...uh...

Yeah...Battle of the Week Voting Tournament, Round 6 of the Group C stages come the week of August 1...it’s going to be interesting with the trip to the quarterfinals hanging in the balance with both Bob’s Burgers and Central Park voters now on red alert once the poll drops. Of course, an hour early than usual due to the Doctor Who panel interfering with the start time. Speaking of Central Park and the Comic-Con panel...

Of course, the cast and crew of the show, being Loren Bouchard, Josh Gad Steven Davis, Kelvin Yu, Leslie Odom, and Tituss Burgess, all appeared in the zoom call when doing the panel. Note that this is pre-recorded, meaning that this was made before the season dropped back in late June. So at least there was a heads up. But for anyone who hasn’t seen the second season...well...you’re in luck with this one with the panel. Though spoilers for what’s about to go down.

There are some clips that were revealed to the viewers of the Comic-Con at Home peoples, but some are from episodes that were shown weeks ago, don’t forget that this is pre-recorded, from the past seven episodes but some that happened to be new. One of these clips has to be the one ready to air for next weekend on July 30. One of which showing Owen and Cole ready to head out without a change of clothes since they’re in their sleepwear without changing into their normal clothes. The other showing Bitsy and Helen in Bitsy’s room. A random person speed scooting, if you want to call it that; causes a fire trail and overheated the vehicle. And then there’s this...

So it looks like we got ourselves an episode with the characters taking the form of Lego figures. You thought at first that the whole Lego experiment would only be for a musical number...apparently, it’s going to be an episode as shown with this screencap. Though it’s going to be different from...let’s say The Simpsons when they did the Lego episode but that’s mostly because they were using CG on the movement when doing that episode. This one looks 2D, so I guess that’s one difference to state out. God, I hope Bob’s Burgers does not take that route in the future.

We also got a clip from the panel showcasing Molly getting her first period with Paige growing some concerns with this little...encounter with both Owen and Cole butting in during the whole ordeal with Paige wanting to be supportive with her eldest daughter. But to make things worse for Molly, you have Branden knocking on the door. Making the day already gone from bad to worse for the eldest daughter of the Tillerman family.

And then you have the final clip of the panel which reveals both Bitsy and Helen lying on the bed before on a ride...a hallucination ride when taking what I assume are painkillers when the duo going on a hallucination ride from seeing Shampange as a dragon to Bitsy seeing her dead mother and Helen getting Bitsy’s will in her possession. It’s trippy but seems rather interesting.

But other than that with the clips, we got some stuff regarding which artists will be partaking in doing the show as the guest songwriters for each episode with some already made their due in the past episodes and some ready to make their mark in the future. The season, of course, is split into parts with one part that is currently airing right now with the second half set to air later in the year, presumably in the winter months, either late 2021 or early 2022. Some of the songs that didn’t make the cut in the 3-4 songs per episode mostly made it into the credits at the end of the episode. And also noting the casting with the characters being tailor-made for the cast members. One of which included the former voice of Molly in actress Kristen Bell for the first season before stepping down last year at the height of the protests. Still no word on Bell either getting a new role for the show or is even going to work on the show ever again? Heard that she’ll be on The Simpsons as Marge’s singing voice. So that’s one piece of news regarding Bell since leaving the show.

But other than that, that’ll do it for Day 2 of the Comic-Con at Home Recap for both The Owl House and Central Park. Day 3 concludes tomorrow with a trifecta in the Sunday Night block with Doctor Who starting things early, hence the poll for Round 5 of the Group C stages has to be released early tomorrow an hour early. The Great North and then Bob’s Burgers later to close out the three-day virtual event...before going back to bitching over not attending in-person in San Diego and have to rely on Twitter to get some info from the pre-pandemic days.
