Fandom Update: Adventure Time Distant Lands Updates + Info for the Marceline Episode

With the world currently on fire with no chance of being handled as of this moment whether if it’s the current coronavirus pandemic or the civil unrest that been going on to now hurricane season taking needles filled with steroids to make it an active season that people fear that it’s going to be like 2005 all over again. And with everything on a standstill and might be expecting another shutdown soon, everyone in need of some escapism in any shape and form. Sure, sports are slowly coming back from Premier League to now the MLB and soon the NHL and NBA, we here in the entertainment industry have something to enjoy during these trying times, Comic-Con...at home. Cause...you already know the answer, kids. You already know. Fandom update for Comic-Con, been a year since last talked about it from the event and was the last time where people at home were being hidden like it’s classified files for UFOs and checking on YouTube and Twitter for what’s to come. Now, with the pandemic rolling over people like a rolling pan attached to a car battery, everyone, even the people who can’t even attend the event like myself, get the experience in the comfort of our homes.

Going first on the ol’ fandom update is a series that hasn’t been mentioned since the series ended back in 2018 in Adventure Time with Distant Lands. Of course, the panel is on YouTube at their official channel, so go find that for you to be in part of the experience. So let’s talk about the BMO episode first cause it was released for over a month now. If you haven’t watched the episode...y’all might get out and watch it before coming back here because spoiler alert, there are spoilers on where the episode fits in the AT-verse timeline. Anyone who saw the episode might as well stick around.

Yeah, so the episode is set like years, a decade or possibly two before the events of the show ever begin. And I know this feels like something of an episode and you...maybe right on that. But coming from the panel at home, why BMO got picked to go first for Distant Lands, according to Adam Muto, it’s mostly because of name recognition. Which...yeah, that seems about right coming from them. I mean when it comes to characters on the show that happened to have somewhat of a cult following, BMO is that one character who is in that popular, well next to Marceline, Finn, and Jake just to name a few. So BMO going first for Distant Lands, might as well go and take it cause it’s been almost two episodes since the show ended. And with the pandemic that been going on, we really needed this. So there’s that.

Also, before heading over to the next stop on the Distant Lands train, on whether or not we’re gonna find out who the mysterious antagonist of the episode, if you want to call him that, in the form of Mr. M. Just who the hell is he? Will this be brought up later on in the mini-

What that? What do you mean it’s Martin?! Martin is the mysterious Mr. M?! What gave it awa...it was the phrase, isn’t it?! Goddamn it. There goes the element of surprise for that. I mean, let’s face it, it was never going to be brought up again anyway as long as the miniseries progresses. And speaking Distant Lands…

Marceline. It’s her turn now to take a bite of the cherry because from this panel at home, we got news concerning the upcoming episode that is set to release...date to be determined but yeah, it looks like it will be Marceline and also Bubblegum’s turn to take the spotlight for the next 45-minute episode because a lot of people are yearning for some Bubbline since the series ended back in 2018 with the kiss during that final fight against Grob in a way to tell the countries that are not LGBT friendly to frick off before heading off to the sunset for two years. Marceline and Bubblegum are the next ones up for their time on the limelight for Distant Lands in the upcoming second episode. And yes, Olson did recall that moment in 2014 when fans became wild when she brought up during a book signing event that Bubblegum and Marceline used to date but was never brought up in the actual canon of the show because the show is so popular that it airs in countries where that type of stuff is not allowed and think that it would hurt their revenue in places that is pretty much a big, fat middle finger to human rights.

Right, so we have the episode title now released in the form of a poster for the upcoming event and the name of the episode is called “Obsidian”. And according to Adam Muto, the episode will take place in a new and never before seen kingdom, going into new territory, in the form of the Glass Kingdom and why the name is chosen for the episode because the name “Obsidian” is a type of glass that is protective spiritually but it can be also be weaponized, at least that what he said. Something about cleansing in the mind being the other property being mentioned when it comes to obsidian. Feels like we may be talking mental health on this upcoming episode, it’s way too early to tell for this one from the panel. But it looks like a Marceline focused episode and pretty much a big one, not hoping to add the hype cause hype leads to disappointment because it looks like it dwells into what makes her...well her. And that might be a trip that we might be entering once the episode is dropped in probably either let’s say September or October, let’s go with that.

Speaking of “Obsidian”, voices. Cause it looks like both Olivia Olson and Hyden Walch will be reprising their roles as the couple in the form of both Marceline and Princess Bubblegum but it looks like, like with any other episodes in the series, a new character being introduced and of course, bringing out who’s the voice. Enter the Voice of Amethyst from Steven Universe, Actress Michaela Dietz, who surprise, surprise, is the moderator of the panel. And well, that would be something cause it’s been a while since Steven Universe Future ended back in March back when the pandemic was becoming unstable and hearing Dietz’s voice on the show would pretty much, sounding like a broken record, something. That and giving some fanservice to the Steven Universe fans, or what’s left of it now, mostly because the show ended and the people missed the show being on the air. That and this episode with the musical numbers, including the one where we got a never before seen song performance from Olivia Olson from the upcoming episode during the final minutes of the panel, which...would say check it out just have to find it separately from the full panel but also feels like this may have Rebecca Sugar written all over it and she used to work on the show before defecting to create Steven Universe. But all and all, a Marceline episode is a-coming. Don’t know when it’s going to be released. Betting on either September or October as the release and let’s hope it’s worth the wait.

That’ll do it for this fandom update from Comic-Con and it looks like at the time of the posting of the update, be working on another one in the forms of both Infinity Train and Bob’s Burgers. Well Bob’s Burgers, even though it’s reserved for last because that’s the show I talked about the most, will go second because Infinity Train...oh boy, shit is about to hit the fan following that trailer for that show’s third season. Thank y’all so much for reading this article and to stay up to date behind the scenes and whatnot, then follow me over at Tumblr, Twitter, and Instagram. That is yahoo201027 as the handle. Then consider donating over at PayPal, Patreon, and Ko-fi pages. Though Patreon, it looks like may need to think about doing some reassessing when it comes to the tiers and how to keep the thing going. So for now, consider doing that in the links above and I’ll see y’all later for the second article of the fandom update from Comic-Con at home with Bob’s Burgers regarding the new season.
