Fandom Update: More Season 15 Updates of Bob's Burgers from the 2024 D23 Fan Experience Expo

With Season 15 less than two months away from airing on our screens and the remainder of Season 14 a few weeks before the premiere, you’d thought that we’re done with the updates with Comic-Con in the books but alas, here we are. Once again doing this fandom update with stuff coming out from the Disney D23 event this past weekend. And, of course, because Bob’s Burgers did a panel (along with The Simpsons, Futurama, Family Guy, and King of the Hill), I gotta share my thoughts on the whole thing and also my would be half-ass predictions to all of this.

It’s been two years since Bob’s Burgers last made its appearance at Disney’s annual event to showcase what they have in store. Mind you that in 2022, which was the last time we had a Bob’s Burgers panel there, the show didn’t have a Comic-Con panel and decided to have their panel at D23 and this was when the convention was going back to pre-pandemic rules. Though that was mostly because the movie just came out, so I guess they have some reasoning for why they skipped Comic-Con back in 2022 and have to promote Season 13 at D23 instead. So now, going into 2024, the Bob’s Burgers crew already did their job at Comic-Con a few weeks ago with them telling the attendees what to expect for Season 15 from the guest cast list to some stuff with certain episodes.

By the way, I have to put it out there regarding the previous post regarding the 13 episodes in 13 weeks. Apologies, I may have misread that tweet saying it from the panel that I originally thought we were going to get 13 episodes for the season because no one wants to go through the long hiatus that Season 14 had to go through. But no, I had to be corrected by someone at Discord and it’s actually referring to the Fall half of Season 15. Ranging from September 29, the premiere date, to the date of the Christmas episode. Then again, we have the dates of September 8, 15, and 22, so that has to count even though those three spots are for the remainder of Season 14. So it has to be in the range between September and December and with, of course, the MLB released the schedule for the playoffs earlier this month with certain series, primarily the NLCS (the AL and NL alternate every year on FOX and TBS, FOX gets the NL this year, TBS gets the AL) and the World Series being flexible where a weather delay or a series becomes too competitive that it could hinder things for the Fall. We don’t want a repeat of 2020 is what we want for this upcoming season. So yeah, had to get it out there. Onto the panel...

And this is something you don’t see every day when attending a panel, a live table read. Yeah, there was a live table read for one of the episodes for Season 15, “Advice Things Are Ad-Nice”, with an animatic showing the first few minutes of the episode, showing the family at the breakfast table with Tina having an issue of her own. Dealing with the problem of no one sending in their questions for her to answer when it comes to the advice column. And in comes Linda and Louise to play pretend by becoming the anonymous sender who sends Tina a letter for her advice column. And y’all already know where this is going but I’mma save that when the episode officially comes out to give my thoughts about it.

So, this might go either way with how this episode that was presented in the table read through the animatic comes down. I can already guess that Linda and/or Louise, mostly Linda since this might as well be her idea because, of course, she would, come clean about her being the anonymous student because she didn’t get any letters from anyone at school. Because the lead-up to this comes down to either her having that anonymous letter being sent to her that the fame will go to her head before someone would find out and call her out as if she wrote the letter herself through AI or Tina planning on finding who the student responsible for sending the note in an attempt to help out leading up to the reveal by the end of the third act and going into the fourth. We have to wait to see how this episode plays out once we get a date for the episode.

We also got some info regarding the show’s upcoming 300th episode which is set for...either Season 15 or Season 16, it all depends on how many episodes we’ll get for Season 15. And the information on what to expect for the next milestone to hit for the show should be an interesting one. According to Loren Bouchard at the panel, the milestone episode for the series will be telling a story of the first night the restaurant came to be. Meaning that we’ll get an episode on how the restaurant gains traction after one night and boy, oh boy, the lore is getting real, y’all. It’s getting real. So, we’re going for the line of what we see with “Radio No You Didn’t” on how a storytelling episode on past events pre-canon and after the success of that episode...we are eating, folks. We are freaking fracking eating this bitch.

And knowing that this would be the first night of the restaurant opening its doors, it comes to down uh...oh right, Linda. Because if you see the flashback scene in the movie, the scene with Bob and Linda looking through an empty building that would soon to be the place that we know as Bob’s Burgers. And you see in that flashback that this was when Linda was pregnant with Tina. So, it would be either while Linda was preggers, probably around nine months, and is expected to give birth, which would possibly give the idea of the place where it’s not just bikers to give birth to their offspring.

Although, we see some shots in various episodes, looking at the credits scene by the end in “Die Card or Card Trying” when showing the past family photos leading up to the end of the credits with Bob and Linda with a baby Tina. And I don’t know anything about the business world, but trying to get a hold of renting a building for business that also holds a residential apartment upstairs takes some time, so it would be set after Tina was born and opening up the business because they need to make ends meet to provide support. Let’s see how the episode will play out and by the sounds of it with this small detail from Loren, it should be a good one. I would not be surprised if there’s a musical number because it is a milestone episode as we see with “Glued, Where’s My Bob” in Season 6 and again in “Bob Belcher and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Kids” in Season 11.

But aside from the whole timeline on where the upcoming story will be set regarding Tina’s birth, the episode should probably serve as a quote-on-quote payoff to one piece of item that hasn’t been picked up since Season 5 in “Father of the Bob” and that would be the first review of the restaurant that Big Bob kept. Once again, the lore is getting real and I for one can’t wait for it.

Other than that, just some questions that were thrown to Loren and the other creators on the panel, ranging from the inspiration behind the creation of Kuchi Kopi and wanting Louise to have strange toys from an unknown country of origin...could’ve just said Japan but okay I guess, to the voice actors and the chemistry that came with it along with how they dictate the show to where we are now. So, the only source of information that we got from the panel would be what to expect for one of the episodes that are set to air around later this year to what we are going to expect for the show’s 300th episode either later this season or sometime next week...if we get renewed, which I’m sure they will. I mean, they have to, right? They gotta. They gotta do it.

Oh yeah, and The Great North, looks like it’s coming back sooner than we expected with September 1 to be the return date to resume where we left off for Season 4. And by the time this is posted, we might as well expect more press releases coming out for September 8, that being the first week of the doubleheader alongside Bob’s Burgers returning to clear out the remainder of Season 14. And no, I’m not retracting the MVP titles from Beef and Rudy just because we thought the season was over back in May. The damage has already been done, so there’s that.

The playoffs are here and currently ongoing with the second match of the Wild Card Round between Luz Noceda (The Owl House) and Sprig Plantar (Amphibia) for the right to advance to the Quarterfinals on September 29. That poll closes on Saturday. And y’all should know the drill by now...
