Adventure Time Season 7, Episode 15 Review - A Star is Born...through the rain.
If you haven’t read the title or in this case, why you saw this post, yep...I’m bringing back the Adventure Time reviews after an almost 2 year hiatus. Yeah...mainly because my New Year’s Resolution for 2016 is to be more active and well response to both in the real world and the fandom world. I mean, it’s not like I have to wait till the 17th to do a Bob’s Burgers review due to a schedule mix-up or something like that. But anyway, welcome back Adventure Time! Don’t know if this is going to be a permanent thing or not. So without further ado, here it is, my first Adventure Time review of 2016. In this week’s episode of Adventure Time, the spotlight is on for the theater as Viola is getting ready to play a role in a show, directed by Lumpy Space Princess. This is my spolierific review of “Summer Showers”.
This is the first episode for the series in the year 2016 and we get to see one of Jake’s children taking the main lead for an episode. So far, we got 4 out of 5 children taking the main lead for an episode from Jake Jr to TV to Kim Kil Whan to now Viola. And in this episode, we get to see Viola acting to get a role of the main lead of a play, but of course, it looks like it’s not going to happen because guess who got control of the Director’s seat, Lumpy Space Princess.
But instead of getting on to be in the shoes of the main lead, she’s in charge of the props, the special effects, the costumes, you know...I don’t know the name of that job behind the stage. But you know what I mean. Of course, I have no interest of the theater mainly because I never even been on stage or working behind the scenes. Same thing to YouTube or Vine or whatever site you are on to watch videos. I’m looking at you PornHub.
And since the episode is called, “Summer Showers”, we got Summer Showers when LSP tells Viola to find the perfect raindrop for the play following the “mishaps” that Viola caused that got LSP mad. Of course, gotta talk about the notepad, kinda surprising that the notepad isn’t affected by the rain because the paper might get wet. Of course, by the time she finally got it right, we transition to opening night.
I really got to love the part with Tree Trunks on Opening Night. Looks like she’s not going to play the main lead on Opening Night after telling Mr. Pig about the kissing scene, that it made him jealous. Even though it’s just a scene, pretend, it can create some problems for couples. So with Tree Trunks out, it looks like it’s Viola that will be filling in for the job...NOT. Yeah, LSP volunteers herself to take over the role, which made Viola so mad that she teleported LSP to the Ice Kingdom.
Now the performance by Viola is absolutely perfect, mostly because of Viola and her acting. Thought LSP was going to kill a bitch after she was teleported away to the Ice Kingdom by Viola due to her being mad at LSP taking the role but by the time she saw the final scene of the play with Viola taking the lead, she was actually glad that the show was a success. And I thought that the play was good under Viola’s control of the deck when taking on a huge role like being the main lead of a play. Just try not to kill a bitch when getting a role. Again, no part of the theater, just saying.
Let’s not to mention that father/daughter scene with Jake in the restaurant...yeah. Also noticed that he’s wearing the same hat that Joshua once wore. Yeah, keeping the linage go forward, man.
Reaction/Thoughts: So what do I think about this episode of Adventure Time? I think it’s a pretty good episode in my book. Although the plot of the episode seems rather slow for the most parts, but it’s still a good episode, even though it’s something to rewatch. It’s nice to see Viola finally getting the spotlight in an episode, mainly because the last 3-4 episodes that featured the pups taking the main lead whether it’s pretending to get kidnapped to get your dad to get back to the heist business or found a diary to someone that haven’t been touched in years or had to take responsibility for his own actions. 4 out of the 5 pups we got an episode that spotlighted on them. So the only pup left that need major screentime in the show is Charlie. Yes, Charlie. And as soon we get her voice actress and writing in the works, looks like we’re going to have to wait. As for the acting from Viola, I got to say, it was amazing coming from Viola. Even though it’s kinda hilarious that Viola sent LSP to the Ice Kingdom, Viola’s acting in the play was absolutely fantastic. It’s like Viola is so ready to take on center stage and hoping she could get an amazing acting career. So all and all, I think this episode was a good one, despite that the plot for the duration of the episode seems a bit slow, the acting coming from Viola is absolutely amazing to enjoy. I give “Summer Showers”...
...an 8.5 out of 10. Like I said, the duration of the episode seems a bit slow in my taste, but I do love the scenes with Viola and her acting when taking on the role. It’s like she was born to be a star. Not to mention, the part when Tree Trunks tapping out of being the main lead because of her telling Mr. Pig about the kissing scene. Wow. But anyway, that’s it for me, tune in next week because we’re going to have a week of new episodes of Adventure Time starting this coming Monday. So that’s it and I’ll see you guys later.
