Bob's Burgers Season 16, Episode 5 Review: True Cracked Lies | yahoo201027's Bob's Burgers Reviews

An interesting weekend to close out October and go into November. Especially on the baseball front, with Game 7 of the World Series between the Dodgers and Blue Jays. Of course, huge congratulations to the Dodgers for pulling out a comeback in that game, which we thought the Blue Jays would achieve going into the 9th inning. Of course, I see people on the internet, especially after the Dodgers won, already complaining that baseball is pretty much screwed going into 2027. The context is that the MLB might be due for another lockout, this time over the implementation of a salary cap.

Now, and this is totally unrelated to the episode, just you know how these prelude introductions work leading up to the whole thing. Treating it like it’s a YouTube video, but out of the four, or I guess five if you include soccer, major sports leagues, baseball is the sport that I know nothing about, despite growing up being a Braves fan. It’s mostly because of how each team spends its money on players to be on the roster, and whether or not there should be limits. Especially since two of the top five teams with the largest amount of salaries that should’ve been over the limit just went up against each other this past week.

I know people are pretty much overreacting about all of this, despite no one wanting to see a dynasty in the making, and was hoping for the Blue Jays to pull it off, nearly had them, but we do have a season in 2026. That’s still a year away from a would-be lockout. Let’s not worry about what is about to come in the next two years, as if Rockstar Games were to delay GTA VI to another year, because that would suck. Everyone can agree on that. Let’s hope a lockout doesn’t happen. We already had enough lockouts. Looking at you, the US Government.

In this week’s episode of Bob’s Burgers, it’s panic time for the Belcher kids and a race against the clock for them as they await a package to arrive, which turns out to be a porcelain baby that the kids accidentally broke, with Louise being high on anesthesia to serve as a hurdle as Teddy picks up Kathleen’s mom from the airport, per Kathleen’s request, hoping to bond with his future mother-in-law in my spoilerific review of the fifth episode of Season 16 of Bob’s Burgers, titled “The Secret Guardin’”.

Might as well be honest with y’all, I was not looking forward to this episode leading up to the episode’s premiere. I was not looking forward to this episode, and sure, opinions might as well change when giving it a rewatch for the second time... third time... maybe four times just to get the gist of it all on what the episode had to offer. I mean, when looking at the synopsis for the episode, when it was released a few weeks ago, it was giving me some vibes straight out of... well, any episode on the show that gives you some sort of flashback to this episode to serve as an example. It’s mainly if “The Ring (But Not Scary)” from Season 10 meets “Steal Magazine-olias” from Season 11, but has its trend towards more of “Steal Magazine-olias”.

Because the episode does feel like something coming out of Season 11 or Season 12 of Bob’s Burgers. Going for the “Oh my God, this is bad. We need to fix this before Mom and Dad find out and get into so much trouble”. Only, this time around, it’s Linda that the Belcher kids are worried about over what happened regarding one of her prized possessions, one of her porcelain babies, getting destroyed by accident, and the kids having to find a way to serve as a “get out of trouble” free card. Did I mention that I was not looking forward to this episode ahead of its premiering? Maybe opinions will change as we go through the breakdown portion of the review, which is pretty much the main kit and kaboodle, might as well get down to business, to what this episode has to offer. This is “The Secret Guardin’”.

The episode starts with the Belcher kids on the laptop in Tina’s room as they make one final adjustment on what they’re doing, as if their life pretty much depends on this particular thing. A particular item, to be exact, once the online order is made. The item in question that the Belcher kids ordered online? Oh, I don’t know, nothing in particular. Just a replacement porcelain baby they have to replace. Yep. The Belcher kids are in serious “you’re fucked” mode after breaking one of Linda’s most prized possessions, and are pretty much screwed.

Or rather, Tina is screwed for breaking the porcelain baby, but would rather drag Louise and Gene with her because they’re at fault as well in this situation. But it’s all on Tina because she is the babysitter, so she holds the most responsibility and broke the porcelain baby by accident. She just got a pay raise for her babysitting duties, though $5 doesn’t seem like a lot, but with the financial struggles for the Belchers, better than paying about… what? 50 cents? And Tina doesn’t want to lose that because of what happened. So, here’s what went down to how we got into this mess.

We know that everyone Bob and Linda leave the house, Linda always tells the kids to stay out of their room. Apparently, this time around, Louise and Gene didn’t get the message. They got bored and decided to improvise. By wearing a couple of Linda’s bras and stuffing some clothing into said bras, and messing around. This, of course, upsets Tina because she’s the babysitter and got that pay raise greenlit. Telling them to put away the bras and get out because knowing that Tina is tasked to be the babysitter for the day, it’s putting her in a really tight spot with what Louise and Gene were doing. Louise and Gene got out of bed, with Tina having to make the bed. Clear away the evidence before their parents return. Trying to play innocent before Tina ends up stumbling across the dresser without looking and knocks one of Linda’s porcelain babies to the floor, named Little Baby Butt Flap. Of course, no damage because it wasn’t that hard a fall. That, and also the floor is carpeted. Though quite the scare there twice for Tina, for her to have the case of butterfingers, for her to lose control of holding on to the porcelain baby. Two close calls before the accident struck the Belchers.

The third time seems not to be the charm, the kids were hoping for. The porcelain baby breaks into pieces thanks to the dresses after Tina picks it up after fumbling for the second time. Which explains the panic in each of the Belcher kids’ eyes. Especially Tina, who might be shitting herself over what happened after trying to put the figurine away without damage. And knowing that Tina was the one who accidentally broke the porcelain, especially with her being the babysitter, she might as well kiss her pay raise goodbye with what happened. Of course, like I said earlier, even though this was all Tina’s fault, even if it’s by accident, she plans on dragging Louise and Gene with her because they have been messing around in Bob and Linda’s room. Even though again, Tina is the babysitter, so she would take all of the blame because babysitters are supposed to be responsible for making sure nothing happens while the parents are away. It might as well be GGs for the kids, but most importantly, Tina. GGs for her and her pay raise. Shades of what we saw in Season 11’s “Steal Magazine-olias” with the stolen magazine, with the kids’ extra hour hanging in the balance.

And back to the present, and with the order made, the kids might as well pray for the package to arrive. Especially if it’s a same-day delivery, as if Tina has a Prime membership on Amazon. And that is exactly what the Belcher kids are planning on doing for the episode. Hoping for the package to arrive on time so that Linda doesn’t find out. And if things go as planned, then the kids should be getting off scot-free, and for Tina to keep her pay raise. Hoping for the victimless crime route from a crime that they hope they didn’t commit if they were to confront them.

And while the kids plan on playing the waiting game in the meantime, you have Louise feeling a sore in her mouth as it’s revealed that she has an extra tooth and is planning on heading to the dentist to have it removed. And we know that Louise is afraid of going to the dentist, as seen in Season 4’s “The Kids Run Away”, when wanting to avoid getting a cavity filling if it weren’t for Gayle stepping up to help get through her fear just by twisting things around to make Louise not feel scared. Treating her appointment as if it’s a world-ending event in the making, like you see in spy movies, where the agent has to go and save the day with her extra tooth being served as a Russian bomb. Yeah, that checks out if it means getting Louise not to feel afraid of going to the dentist.

So, as the waiting game takes place for the Belcher kids, especially once Louise leaves to go to the dentist, Teddy enters the restaurant, but won’t be there for that long, or at least for a while, because he is busy. Making a pit stop at the restaurant on his way to the airport, as he tells Bob why he is in a rush and asks only for a coffee, and that’s about it, is because he is doing a request made by his girlfriend Kathleen to pick her mother up from the airport. Coming to the United States to visit her daughter from Ireland for a while. And this might as well be huge for Teddy because when it comes to dating your partner, meeting your partner’s parents should be a step up.

Sure, Kathleen should’ve picked her mother up herself, but according to Teddy, she’s away at a bachelorette party in the mountains and got sidetracked because she has to take the bride-to-be to the hospital after getting cold feet... literally. Frostbite on the ol’ legs like she’s Antonio Brown. So, tapped Teddy to do the job to pick her mother, and kind of like the colonoscopy last season, it was giving Teddy a huge opportunity to do something when it comes to impressing Kathleen since they started dating back in Season 13. The moment of opportunity to impress Kathleen’s mom in hopes for him to ger her blessing. It is a major step when being in a relationship to meet the parents and make an impression, so that you can get their blessing to continue the relationship to the point where you and your partner are ready to take the next step to tie the knot.

Major, major step for Teddy to do the job when it comes to impressing Kathleen. As long as Teddy doesn’t go overboard with the meeting like.. I don’t know, pretend that you’re Catholic because Kathleen’s mom is a huge Catholic, pretty much tells you that, even though it was never specified on the show, that the majority of the characters, except Tammy and her family, and could lump in Mort and his mother because he did took his mom to a Chinese restaurant on Christmas, or the day after, are either Protestant or no comment. Oh yeah, forgot about Zeke because of him thinking there’s no afterlife in “Tina and the Real Ghost” when Tina brought up Jeff the Ghost. But other than that, he plans on impressing Kathleen’s mom once he picks her up at the airport. But Teddy plans on impressing Kathleen’s mom, and knowing that she is a devout Catholic, he has to play the part. By getting a giant ass crucifix on his neck. That’s one way to impress a mom by showing off a religion that you are not a part of. But that won’t stop Teddy from doing that as he prepares to leave. Especially when taking the mug with him that has coffee in it, despite Bob telling him that they are to-go cups for him to take. Though having a cup in the mug while being on the road... one spill from the mug and it’s pretty much GGs.

Hours later, we transitioned to the dentist with the aftermath of Louise’s dental appointment. Finally got the extra tooth, would’ve been easier to just say wisdom tooth, and is entering the recovery phase since having that sucker removed. Of course, knowing that it’s oral surgery to get the extra tooth removed, not to mention Louise’s fear of going to the dentist, and hoping for not another moment like what happened in Season 4, anesthesia had to be administered to make sure things went smoothly. In short, Louise will be feeling loopy for a while until the gas that was inserted into her system wears off. Or, in this episode’s case, the rest of the episode, while being high on gas. Though it’s unlike Bob when he was under the gas back in Season 2, and we all know that episode when he accidentally mistook Gayle for Linda. Thankfully, it’s nothing like that this time around. Thank God.

Speaking of Louise, she returns to the restaurant alongside Linda as Tina asks Bob if the package has arrived yet, while trying to play innocent to make sure suspicion doesn’t get drawn. As long as things go well for the kids once the package arrives, and for Bob and Linda to be on their feet, then they should be good. The problem with that as we prepare to end the first act of the episode and going into the second act is that the anesthesia, according to Linda, serves as some sort of truth serum because the person, like Louise, who would be under the whacky gas would say random stuff to the point where you would be forced to say the truth of what you did or what the others did as if it’s bargain sale when it comes to the confession like the customer’s seat taking a hit by Gene or later on in the episode when bringing up her pulling a prank on Mr. Frond.

And for Tina and Gene, and also Louise, but primarily Tina, Louise having to blab out anything, including her having to confess to everything like it’s the confession box at Church, hoping to score a couple of Hail Marys, they are screwed. Especially Tina, because that is the last thing she wants to hear before the package she ordered to replace the porcelain baby that she accidentally broke. And Louise telling Linda about what happened would put her at risk of losing her pay raise as a babysitter. There’s also grounding, but the loss of a pay raise sounded worse in her head.

Going into the second act of the episode, Louise is being tucked in on the couch so she can rest after having oral surgery, with Linda keeping an eye on her so that nothing happens to her while she is bedridden. Tina and Gene enter the room and ask Linda if they want to be the ones who keep a watchful eye on Linda while trying not to draw suspicion, while also hoping that Louise will not reveal what Tina did regarding the broken porcelain baby. Linda tells Tina and Gene that they don’t need to do that and asks the two to go to the restaurant to help Bob out. But Tina and Gene won’t budge, and it looks like Linda can’t do anything about it but allow the two to watch over Louise. Of course, it’s not enough to get Linda to fully leave, so Tina and Gene would have to make sure they don’t act suspiciously around their mother. And also, hoping for Louise not to reveal what they did regarding the broken porcelain baby. Especially once Louise confesses to what she did to Mr. Frond’s car. So, it might be guns blazing for Tina and Gene to make sure Linda won’t be in the same room as Louise in the event she (Louise) does reveal the incident.

Going down the stairs to the restaurant with Teddy, returning from the airport, and picking up Kathleen’s mother, named Mary, voiced by, who else, Sharon Horgan, as Teddy attempts to bond with the mother of his girlfriend in hopes of him to make an impression and hoping to get her blessing. It wasn’t easy for Teddy, but at least he got the hang of this. As long as he doesn’t go overboard, then he should be good to go to have Mary’s blessing by the end of the day once Kathleen returns to town. It’s just that she doesn’t like Bob. And the reason why she doesn’t like Bob right off the bat, the moment she entered the restaurant with Teddy, is because she had some history with one of the McClarney brothers, mostly because of the shared facial structure regarding the chin. You can tell that Mary is quite the hoot for Teddy to bring her to the restaurant as they wait for Kathleen to return.

And while that is happening, Bob gets a quick phone call from Tina as we prepare to switch back to the main plot upstairs. Questioning her father about whether the package has arrived, while hoping not to draw any suspicion. Bob replies that it didn’t come in just yet, upsetting Tina because she is starting to get impatient, because Louise could snitch Tina through the gas any moment now. So, once again, going back to the main plot, it’s a race to make sure Louise doesn’t snitch on her siblings through the gas after her appointment. Even if Bob was hoping for her and Gene to come down to do their work, and not because he was currently dealing with a monster in the form of Kathleen’s mother.

But yeah, it’s not looking good for Tina on her end as she can’t wait for the package to arrive. And with Louise starting to blab out the truth like wildfire, she’s on the verge of losing it when trying to find a way to make sure Linda isn’t in the room in the event Louise does blab out about the incident. And knowing that Tina isn’t all that great in the lying game, like we saw in “Tina-rannosaurus Wrecks” as the prime example, it’s not looking good for her. So, she has to pull something out of her ass to make sure she stalls Louise and for Linda not to be in the same room, just as she was doing the laundry. This leads her to consider giving Louise a smoothie and asking Linda for help if it means distracting her. Linda tries to reassure Tina that she got this on her own, putting herself in a difficult situation, but gets Linda to get off the couch at the end and on their way to the kitchen, leaving Gene alone to watch over Louise. And yes, you can have a smoothie while recovering from oral surgery. Just as long as there isn’t a straw or something that could be a hassle in the healing process. Or at least try to force feed as if they’re going to treat Louise like a baby bird.

Going back to the restaurant for a bit with Teddy and Mary, they quickly bonded with each other as the food they ordered arrived at their table. Already looking up and up for Teddy if it means wanting to make a good impression for his future mother-in-law, as long as things continue to go right for him as planned. I mean, at some point, the show might be getting ready to make a major step in having Teddy and Kathleen elope, but it’s early. We still have a lot to go through to make sure we’re truly ready to have them tie the knot. But it does feel like we’re heading towards it between Teddy and Kathleen, but again, it’s too early to tell, and things can happen between now and God knows how long. So, Teddy is riding on cloud nine when bonding with Mary, only for Mary’s mood to quickly dwindle once Bob reaches their table to deliver their food. I know that this isn’t Bob’s place in all of this, when trying to make an impression at least, even if it means, if you’re Bob in this, having to deal with Mary hating on your ass. All for the sake of trying to keep the relationship afloat.

Back up the stairs to the apartment with Tina doing her best to stall Linda while Gene does his part in the living room to keep Louise busy. Linda needed the ingredients to make a regular smoothie using fruit, but Tina, of course, was requesting random stuff into the blender, like chicken and Dijon mustard, as if it were a smoothie for an athlete on a high school varsity team, and calling it your secret stash. Of course, the plan to distract Linda almost fell flat on its face once Louise literally fell flat on her face to the floor after rolling over, thanks in part to Gene wrapping the blanket around her as if she was being put on a straitjacket. Louise doesn’t mind rolling over, despite the effects of the gas still not having worn off, even though it would disrupt the healing process post-surgery, but it is putting Tina and Gene in a very difficult position with the way they are doing to prevent Louise from ratting them out. And you can tell that it’s going to be a very long day for the siblings, especially Tina, with her taking the full brunt since she was the responsible one as the babysitter the day of the incident. Though it was never implied where Bob and Linda went, that made Tina the babysitter the day or night it happened. Think about that when it all happened.

Back to the subplot of the episode, and, of course, things are going smoothly for Teddy while bonding with Mary as he hopes for her blessing to keep the relationship going. Things are really going well for Teddy as he waits for Kathleen to make her return from her trip. And he hopes that if he gets her blessing, then maybe things won’t be looking so bad for the Ted-ster... that was until Mary brought up a little note or two about Kathleen that Teddy doesn’t know, and follow me here if y’all watched the episode, then what the hell are y’all doing, but follow me here.

Mary brought up how Kathleen happened to be 6 feet tall and 210 pounds of pure muscle. Revealing that she happened to be a bodybuilder. A professional bodybuilder... with a mohawk. And at first, you’d think to yourself when watching this episode, “Oh, there’s no way that sounded like the Kathleen we know of,” when being described by Mary. And when the promotional images for this episode came out a few weeks ago, one of the images shows Teddy with an old woman sitting across from him at the restaurant, and some people assumed that it was Teddy’s mom; it’s not. It was Kathleen’s mom, and I say that because of the extended guest cast list we got from New York Comic-Con a few weeks ago, where Sharon Horgan’s name was brought up, meaning Kathleen would be in this season. And that old lady sitting across from Teddy would be her mom… or so we thought it was Kathleen’s mom. Which it is, but with one little bit of a problem with that...

He picked up the wrong Mary. Teddy picked up the wrong Mary at the airport. It turned out that this Mary, the one who Teddy accidentally picked up, by accident, was the mother of Kathleen, not Teddy’s Kathleen... definitely not The Great North’s Kathleen, but the Kathleen who happened to be a professional bodybuilder. Because apparently, according to Teddy, all old, white Irish women look the same. So, it’s not looking good for Teddy after picking up the wrong Mary from the airport, whether it was because he was in a rush in the event Kathleen does return from her trip, or that this Mary was pretty much scooped up by Teddy, thinking that the escort was for her; either way, it’s not looking good for Teddy. It’s not looking good. It’s the last thing he needs because he was hoping for this to be his window of opportunity to make an impression, and well... it’s not looking good. I mean... I guess you could consider this a practice run? That’s one way to put it, despite getting the wrong Mary from the airport.

Going back to the main plot, this is a long ass second act in the episode, folks, you have Tina and Gene spoonfeeding Louise so that it doesn’t cause a problem for her during the healing process. Once again, making sure that Louise doesn’t spill about the incident, and oh boy, it looks like it might be panic time for Tina once Louise brings up the mail. Came dangerously close to revealing what was in the package that was about to be delivered before Tina tried to shut Louise with the napkin, which would’ve hampered the healing process. That, and also letting Louise fall to the floor again, is more than enough for Linda to kick Tina and Gene out of the house for a bit. Not looking good for the two, primarily Tina, because they need to stay behind, because if Louise were to bring up the broken porcelain baby, along with her and Gene being in Bob and Linda’s room, they would get into major trouble, and for Tina to lose their pay raise. But they can’t do anything about it because what they’re doing is pretty much hampering the healing process for Louise, between letting her fall to just now, and trying to keep her mouth shut with the napkin. Also, didn’t expect Gene to bring up the Shadow Realm reference when being kicked out for a bit, but that’s how the cookie crumbles on how we say things these days. And it’s not a Gen Alpha saying, so ha-ha, we claim it.

Onto the second half of the episode, Tina and Gene out of the house and are on their way to the restaurant. Tina is in full-on extreme panic mode after getting kicked out of the house when it comes to the Louise situation. It’s pretty much all hands on deck for her and Gene, but mostly her, as she waits for the package to arrive. And even if the package does arrive on time, Louise could reveal the incident at any given moment while being in the same room as Linda. So, she'd better pray the package comes on time and hopes Louise won't bring up the incident in their parents’ bedroom. Well, look at the bright side, Tina, you could be Teddy, who is calling Kathleen about the mix-up at the airport. Not our Kathleen that he knows all too way, he’s talking to the bodybuilder Kathleen over how he took her mom by accident, and hoping that he doesn’t get turned into a stress ball over what happened, as the Kathleen that Teddy is talking to on the phone plans on picking her mom up from the restaurant. Meaning that Teddy plans on heading back to the airport to pick up the correct Mary once he ends the phone call, right as Tina and Gene enter the restaurant, when dealing with their own situation.

At least there’s the first good news of the day for Tina once Mike the Mailman enters the restaurant to deliver the mail. Got impatient for a bit once Bob and Mike got into a conversation because she couldn’t wait any longer before Mike handed the package over to Tina. Finally got her “get out of trouble” free card delivered on time, and despite being kicked out of the house for a bit, as well as Bob not wanting the two to leave because he needs help with the restaurant, but mostly to deal with Other Kathleen’s Mary by his lonesome, making this one weird conversation between the two, Tina and Gene waste no time to rush out of the restaurant and sneak their way into the apartment once the package was handed to Tina.

Tina and Gene reenter the apartment with the package in tow. Finally got their “get out of trouble” free card with the replacement porcelain baby, as if the incident didn’t happen. It’s a race against the clock now as we are about to end the third act of the episode and go into the fourth, and as long as Tina easily places the replacement porcelain baby without being detected, as well as Louise doesn’t say anything about the incident, along with Linda keeping herself busy, then things should be good for the siblings to get out of trouble and for Tina to keep her pay raise. Too bad that Tina can’t have nice things. We had that in last week’s episode. We’re doing it again this week. And again this upcoming week (Get Her to the Zeke). And the two weeks after that (Tube for Tina), since we’re off on November 16. Back-to-back-to-back-to-back. You get the idea of this being four straight Tina episodes in a row. I know this is more of a Belcher kids episode than a Tina episode, but she was the center focus in this because she was the one who broke the porcelain baby, by accident, of course, so of course, the spotlight is on her.

But yeah, as we prepare to wrap up the third act of the episode, just as Tina was given the opportunity to place the replacement porcelain baby without getting caught, here comes Louise, still under the effects of the anesthesia, now beginning to spill the information about the incident that took place. Already talking about how she and Gene went into their room, but didn’t bring up the boobie battle they had the day of the incident, but it was close enough for Linda to notice something was off regarding why Tina and Gene were acting strange when trying to take care of Louise. But that should be more than enough for Linda to go into her room, and for Tina, it’s full-on panic mode because if she finds out that Baby Butt Flap is missing, then it would put her in a very tight spot and could kiss her pay raise goodbye if she doesn’t do anything to make sure she places the replacement porcelain baby.

Into the fourth and final act of the episode, as Linda enters her room to check around the area after the attempted sell-out by Louise under the anesthesia, and could be moments away from either Linda spotting the missing porcelain baby or Louise ready to snitch while being under the effects of the anesthesia. This causes Tina and Gene and sneak back into the living room, telling Louise to distract Linda to get her out of the bedroom, as Louise could be moments away from ratting Tina out for the porcelain baby that she accidentally broke. The first two distractions to get Linda out of the room, the request to turn on the TV and wanting to discuss the family book club, didn’t work as Linda continues to be dead set on searching around the room. But the third distraction seems to be the charm to get Linda out of the room, and, of course, it’s self-snitching that is the topic of conversation for Linda to leave the room and for Tina to do the job.

We have to cut away to the subplot for a bit, with Teddy rushing his way back to the airport to pick up the correct Mary. And after having dinner with the Mary whom he thought was his girlfriend’s mother, which might as well be treated as a practice run for the real deal, at least the window of opportunity for Teddy to make an impression remains open. Just comes down to how Kathleen would respond to the whole mix-up once she returns from her trip at the end of the episode. At least he got some practice with the Other Mary, so there’s a silver lining in all of this. That, and also hoping not to cause a scene when speeding through the terminal, like how in some movies where the person had to speed their way to the airport and stop their love interest from going through the gate. At least the government in the Bouchard-verse didn’t shut down and had to worry about mass layoffs. 37 days out now, and counting as of posting the review. What the fuck are we doing?!

Onto the two-minute warning of the episode, going back to the main plot of the episode, yes, two minutes left in the episode, and you can thank the long ass second act for taking up a portion of the episode, you have Tina entering the room ready to place the replacement porcelain baby onto the site of the crime to make sure what happened earlier didn’t happen. Just comes down to the time Tina needs to place the item in question without having to be seen by Linda. Luckily for Tina, she did the job. But going into the final two minutes of the episode, whoops, she needs to find a place to hide in just short notice. She can’t hide in the closet because Linda would spot her going into there just by closing the door.

So, she decides to roll herself under the bed to avoid detection. She did that once Linda entered the room again after Louise continued to spill the beans about what happened regarding the broken porcelain baby. But lo and behold, it’s like the crime didn’t happen. The replacement porcelain baby is perfectly placed on its original spot, with Linda, of course, buying it despite Louise trying to come clean while dealing with the effects of the anesthesia. Though, super close call for Tina after noticing the package was left on the floor and was moments away from having it picked up by Linda. Having to use the clothes hanger like she’s Darryl in the episode “Fort Night” to pull the package box into her arms and wait for the coast to be cleared. So, no one is getting in trouble. You’d think that normally, the kids would get caught around this time, but this time, they didn’t, despite Louise nearly ratting her and Gene, along with herself, under the effects of the anesthesia. But talk about a freaking close call.

Onto the final couple of scenes of the episode, starting with Teddy with Kathleen back in town from her trip. And as Mary makes her way to the bathroom, Teddy apologizes to Kathleen for the mix-up that took place while waiting for her return. In which Kathleen tells Teddy to brush it off because it seems that he has been beating the allegations since, according to Kathleen, an Irish woman herself, Mary, along with the other Mary, and every old Irish woman looks the same. Hell, Kathleen had an experience like this once, so it looks like Teddy should be okay with all of this. Should probably tell you whether or not the show should be ready for having Teddy and Kathleen to tie the knot. Who knows. We still have a long way out.

Finally reached the final scene of the episode with Bob and Linda. And even though Tina and Gene were concerned for the rest of the episode, wouldn’t you guess it? Bob and Linda had skeletons in their closet when dealing with loopy Louise. And the thing that they were worried that would’ve been revealed by Louise? Letting Louise stay up late to watch a horror movie. That’s what Bob and Linda were worried about?! Yeah, that was the major worry if you’re Bob and Linda regarding all of this the moment Louise came back home after her dental appointment.

Reaction/Thoughts:

So, all and all, what do I think about this week’s episode of Bob’s Burgers? While most of the fans of the show think that they enjoyed it. They liked the episode. They think it feels like classic Bob’s Burgers with how things played out. I’m going to be in the minority here and say that this is pretty average. It is an average episode to sum up everything from start to finish.

Some ideas were subverted... okay, just one. I thought the kids would get caught going into the second half of the episode, especially going into the final act, but somehow didn’t. Survived through the episode without getting caught despite the pressure that was being put on by Tina. But other than that, I might as well be in the minority here to say this was a pretty average episode. It was giving me vibes of what I saw with “Steal Magazine-oilas” with the kids trying not to be suspicious to avoid getting into trouble. Especially with the kids under threat that Louise could potentially spill about the incident regarding the porcelain baby that Tina accidentally broke if it means Tina wants to keep her pay raise from her babysitting duties.

The subplot was okay, I guess. And whether or not it’s the show’s way of wanting to get ready for the possibility of having Teddy and Kathleen tie the knot is totally up to them since there is a lot of time to get into that idea. Especially since the subplot is mostly Teddy wanting to impress Kathleen’s mom in hopes for him to get her blessing to keep the relationship going... even if he picked up the wrong Mary at the airport who pretty much hates Bob just for looking like someone she knew a while back.
