The Bob's Burgers Movie Synopsis and College Football Playoff Trailer Breakdown and Analysis | yahoo201027's Bob's Burgers Discussions

They did it. Those sons of bitches finally done it. After two years. Two long years of being left in the dark since the announcement of the film back in 2017 and multiple times being pushed from release date to release date as well as the off-screen situations that plagued the show and movie’s production, we finally got our hands with our first look at the upcoming Bob’s Burgers movie that is set for release in the summer. Memorial Day weekend to be exact and the burger fandom is up in arms with joy after countless fears of not getting the news about the project, but here we are. So let’s break it down and by the time this post gets published, the review to “Touch of Eval(uations)” is coming. The news came out of nowhere. Didn’t expect that we would get the trailer this soon knowing that we’re less than five months away from the theatrical release and during a College Football Playoff Championship game. So congrats to Georgia for winning it all and for the burger fandom for surviving four hours just to get the trailer seen on the screens.

Prior to the big night this past Monday, we had the release of the film’s synopsis, and looking at it on the day of the release, if you were one of those people who were hoping for something like Mr. Fischoeder evicting the Belchers for not paying the rent or Ron and Hugo successfully shutting down the restaurant or even the family can’t keep up with the competition, which would’ve been a baller idea to go along with if you think about it. Capitalism at its fucking finest. But no, we have the official synopsis and they said that a picture is worth a thousand words and you might as well look at those words down below...

“The Bob’s Burgers Movie” is an animated, big-screen, musical comedy-mystery-adventure based on the long-running Emmy®-winning series. The story begins when a ruptured water main creates an enormous sinkhole right in front of Bob's Burgers, blocking the entrance indefinitely and ruining the Belchers’ plans for a successful summer. While Bob and Linda struggle to keep the business afloat, the kids try to solve a mystery that could save their family's restaurant. As the dangers mount, these underdogs help each other find hope and fight to get back behind the counter, where they belong.

A ruptured water main creating issues for everyone? I feel like that’s a regular Sunday over at FedEx Field. As if the sewage water coming out from the stands and onto the bystanders isn’t one of the many bad things that have been plaguing the Washington Football Team this past NFL season. But yep, that’s the official synopsis. A water main break strong enough to create a sinkhole. Enough to create some massive trouble for almost every business owner on Ocean Avenue. But mostly on the Belchers, who are facing a massive challenge when experiencing the situation that could harm business. And looking at the behind-the-scene image from Dan Mintz last year during production...

It almost begins to make sense with the sinkhole issue because you have Louise being the only Belcher to look over the barricade as if she’s staring at our souls as Linda, Tina, and Gene are apparently looking at either the other business orders on noticing what’s going on or Bob trying to give his family either a pep talk in wanting to make sure the show goes on or ready to roll out and hopes that the situation is handled right away.

And when reading the synopsis, it did state that Bob and Linda want to have a successful summer to keep business afloat. Meaning that the setting for the film will be around, guess this? Memorial Day weekend. What a coinkydink. Though it would make sense for the setting to be the start of the summer season because you go back to the shared image from Bouchard early last year on Twitter where you have both Andy and Jimmy Jr with their backpacks on, meaning that it would be either the last day of school, days leading up to the last day, or maybe the first moments after the final bell of the school year rang. You know, the kids saying their goodbyes, sharing their summer plans, pretty much everything you would do for the summer. Though I would be not surprised if some of the kids, mostly in the Belcher kids group, attend summer school. And you’re probably thinking that because it’s the last day of school, the last day of the kids in their respective grade that Tina and the other eighth-graders would be kissing Wagstaff goodbye and heading towards high school come the Fall. But knowing the show, that ain’t going to happen. Time is pretty much non-existent and the continuity, especially if the moments from the film will fit into the canon of the franchise, can be screwy at times.

Though the kids doing something to save the restaurant while their parents try to figure something out to keep things in order should be interesting and knowing one of the many things that would be expected whether being the origins of Louise’s bunny ears and what’s under the damn headwear but also Louise going back to the dream world and have a nice little chat with Kuchi Kopi since Season 7 with “Flu-ouise”, though no illness would force her to go and reunite with the Kuch-ster, the good one. Not the bad squished one. Though I would not be surprised if two Kuchi Kopis were to appear a la angel and devil you see in shows that sums up the subconscious. But that’s probably enough for the synopsis, the first to say the least because I feel like we could get another but...eh. Let’s get to the moment y’all were waiting for. My breakdown of the trailer from Monday night.

So of course in typical Bob’s Burgers fashion, if you wanna go with that, you have some sexy music playing in the background as live-action condiments of the burger gets shown. Of course, that gets interrupted by Linda, who appears to be wearing a burger suit with a bikini in front of what appears to be a mobile restaurant. Not in the likes of the food truck from Season 2. God forbid if they go to that style again after what happened last time. But that’s not the case this time around because it looks as we go through the whole trailer from start to finish, it looks like shit is about to hit the motherfucking fan. Though never change, Linda. Never change.

Though it looks like we may have changed scenes from the alleyway to now the front of Wonder Wharf and again, it looks like the duration of the trailer seems to showcase that shit is about to hit the fan as we prepare to enter the whole enchilada. One of which is the sign hovering about the Belchers and Teddy at the gate. As you can see, it reads “The Octa-Wharfiversary: 80 Years of This”. Revealing that the summer that is set in the movie based on the synopsis appears to be the Wharf’s biggest year as it celebrates its anniversary. Though I do have to give some props to Linda for being optimistic and knowing what she’s doing as Bob cooks on a mobile grill and Teddy, being Teddy, eats his burger like a true customer and friend.

Of course, it is the summer break since it looks like the school year is over with for the Belcher kids with Tina already making her plans for the three-month break. As you could see her fantasy in action with what appears to be her and Jimmy Jr riding on horses at the beach at sunset. Of course, you can’t have a Tina fantasy sequence without her having Jimmy Jr taking off his pants, which he did with the pants coming off and have him down to his vest, shirt, and underwear when riding on his horse along with Tina. Though you noticed that the horse that Tina was riding in her fantasy. That isn’t a random horse, but rather Jericho, her imaginary horse that she has in Season 6’s “The Horse Rider-er”. So I’m guessing that Actor Paul Rudd, who voiced him would most likely be reprising his role as the imaginary horse if Jericho gets a speaking role in Tina’s fantasy. Now maybe if we can throw in some zombies, bring back her zombie obsession, and maybe then we’ll be gucci about it. Bring that back, will ya?

We have one quick scene with Teddy, Bob, and Linda in this trailer over the alleyway with Teddy lighting what appears to be the stand from earlier in the episode. We already know that Bob and Linda need to think of something to keep the show going despite the sinkhole that’s been terrorizing the neighborhood based on the synopsis and earlier in the episode with them and Teddy stationed themselves in front of the Wharf. You have what is pretty much Bob’s way to keep business afloat to get customers by going mobile with Teddy doing some handiwork to get the grill working. Of course, you have some instances to get things in order. Mostly with the grill when seeing the fire being lit up. So it looks like things would not be easy for everyone to keep business afloat at first when Teddy introduces the mobile cart to the Belchers. Hence, one of the scenes from later in the trailer when Bob and Linda get interrupted by Teddy from the back of the restaurant and see the sinkhole in front of the restaurant and their home.

As for how the sinkhole came into the picture, again, looking back to the synopsis of the movie, it was caused by a water main break. But for how it would cause the sinkhole to create a magnitude of that size enough to create some trouble for not just the Belchers, but you would also have people like Mort and the Pestos for example since their place of employment are also being affected by the hole.

And there are some early speculations over what caused the main water line to break enough for it to create a massive sinkhole that could possibly rival the Grand Canyon. One of which tying in to "The Deepening" from Season 3 when Fischoeder bought a mechanical shark for the Wharf and the kids mess things up with it to cause the shark to go haywire and terrorize the town. The one where it got into the restaurant and both Bob and Teddy had to fight it to get the shark to shut down which one of the items being thrown at it to stop the shark was the soft serve machine. Hence, the small damage to the machine that you'd see in the background as the series progresses. The other is what happened in "Bob Fires the Kids" from Season 3 with Mickey, who temporarily worked for Bob and Linda after the kids are let go to enjoy their summer vacation, trying to build a tunnel to get to the bank that he once tried to rob. And you probably think that this one doesn't make any sense because the setting in that episode would be during the summer break. Whereas the upcoming movie has the setting to be on the first day of the summer break.

I would've gone with the idea of the pipes being outdated because it could potentially tie in with the aging infrastructure issues. How so? Well, I guess you could say the idea of Bob getting a new sink to replace the old one in "Driving Big Dummy". Him almost getting the grill in "Copa Bob-bana". The change in the regular bathroom in the restaurant in "Ambergris". I know that this idea seems vague regarding how old the infrastructure is when Bob and Linda rented the building from Fischoeder after the previous tenant, Violet, moved out. I know that this may sound like propaganda for the Build Back Better Plan that you might connect the dots and say that President Biden may have something to do with the film, but if you think about it, looking at the Belchers’ financial stance and how they’re underperforming when selling burgers, other than struggling to pay the rent and affordable housing for not just them, but also the kids, replacing aging items like pipes would be the way to go. Again, that’s one of the many possibilities of how the sinkhole came to be.

You have the Belcher kids entering uncharted territory in the next scene of the trailer in what appears to be a trailer park. And at first, I thought that this is where everyone would end up going to live temporarily because of how worse the sinkhole is getting from the restaurant, or maybe multiple sinkholes would pop up in various neighborhoods that would leave people displaced as the situation needed to be fixed. But apparently, that’s not the case because in the next scene in this very same trailer...

You have random people surrounding a kiddie pool with an army of rubber ducks gasping for their few seconds of fame. So it appears that everyone in attendance in that scene are employees working for Fischoeder. People who currently worked for the Wharf and yeah, living in trailer homes...behind a rundown apartment complex, great showmanship on how cruddy housing in America feels where you have people who are working their butts off over at an amusement park living in terrible conditions. And if those are happened to be the people who worked for Fischoeder living in that trailer park, we could see Mickey in the movie and might have a role in the whole situation regarding the sinkhole and the kids doing their part to save their home. Though the rubber ducks in question have been one of the biggest teases leading up to the trailer earlier this week. If you have seen a post from one of the cast and crew who worked on the movie have that sweater that has a rubber duck attached by the abdomen. What with the duck? Is it just a random item being thrown in from one of the carnival games that one of the workers took home? Or maybe something more? Tying in with a certain someone’s past perhaps? Only time can tell.

Now you have this scene with Louise going into the sinkhole with Tina and Gene standing by her from the back. Knowing the kids, going back to certain situations like with “The Bleakening” for example, if the adults can’t do anything about the current situation, then it’s Belcher kids who would intervene and find out the root cause of the situation at hand. Which explains this scene with Louise going down into the sinkhole to find what caused the line to break. You have Tina and Gene in the background with a camera in hand and ready to pull Louise up if she’s done investigating or gets into deep trouble like getting stuck. Though we all know where this is going with this scene. Louise gets stuck, Gene and Tina head out and help their sister pull up, only for them to also fall into the deep underground. Let’s not pretend that whole issue regarding the moral, even if it’s for a bit, of Louise doing something and Tina against it. It might be short-lived but it’s getting stale. But the synopsis did state that the kids would investigate what’s going. What caused the main to break. Discovering something that may or may not be helpful with the current situation at hand. A situation that has the Belchers together gasp when looking at the news regarding the sinkhole.

We already had Tina’s fantasy with her and Jimmy Jr at the beach, so now we have Gene’s fantasy with his band, the Itty Bitty Ditty Committee, back together and perform a concert. Making sure to the viewers who watched the show prior to the announcement of the movie or the synopsis and trailer, in general, isn’t a one-trick show pony in the canon of the franchise. The Belcher kids are present. Rudy, Peter...the boy. My boy! My boy Darryl made it to the trailer. LET’S FUCKING GO!!! Darryl’s back and god I fucking miss having him around on the show. Being a part of the band in Gene’s fantasy and performing a concert where they scared away a robot from outer space after hearing one of their songs on stage. And man, oh man, the trailer is really going hard on us. Pulling out the classics and throwing them onto our plates when watching the game. It’s a nice little fantasy coming from Gene but the question would be Darryl himself. Most importantly, who’ll be voicing him. It’s unclear if Aziz Ansari would reprise his role following that ugly mess back in 2018 and if it is Aziz, or another actor taking the mantle, much like with Alex earlier in the current season, going from Middleditch to Rust in a snap, it’s possible that Darryl will have a speaking role once again in the next season and beyond. And no, I’m not saying that because I just wanna see my boy again...you know, I might as well say it. I want to see Darryl again. It was nice licking the breadcrumbs from the ground with him being in the background, not having a speaking role in both “Y Tu Tina Tambien” and “Fingers-loose”, I just wanna see my boy back! Is that so much to ask?

But why stop the fantasy train with Gene’s? Because it looks like we got one more with Louise and this was one of the moments that was brought up by Bouchard prior to the info dump during the five-year silence. You have the usual suspects from “Flu-ouise” back in Season 7. The two Kuchi Kopis, the good undamaged one and the bad one whose head’s been splatted like a ball of wet yeast. You also have Bakeneko, Akkuro Kamui, Dodomeki, and Mizuchi being present as well. And as an added bonus, you also have the Burobu slug from “Missing Imos-slug-ble” in Season 8. And looking at the background, as Bouchard stated, it appears that Louise will be heading back to her dream world. A clear blue sky after pressing the button that is pretty much a Deus ex machina of a design flaw to destroy the fort but also forgives the family for damaging Kuchi Kopi when Louise fell ill with the flu. But how Louise gets into the world? My guess is that sometime in the movie, probably nearing the climax of it as the chips are being down when things go terribly wrong that it went out of their control is where she goes to that world and talks to them on what to do. And it’s pretty much 50:50 up to this point with this, but it may or may not be possible that during that scene, is when the ears finally come off. Either she ends up losing it during the investigation or things become so dire that she now questions who she is. What went wrong in her head when trying to help her family out to the point where she takes her hat off and reveals her insecurity. Giving us a backstory to the ears and why she wears it all the time.

The Fischoeders will have a huge role in the film with Calvin and Felix getting the spotlight with the kids. And it’s possible that it won’t be just Bob’s past and what happened to his mom or Louise with her bunny ears that’ll be the focus in the movie, but also Calvin and Felix. I would totally be down with a backstory in the movie with them. Exploring their past from their childhood to opening the Wharf and of course, letting Bob and Linda move into the building that they called home. You have a scene of them driving through what appears to be old statues inside a warehouse. Almost feels similar to that abandoned, out of commissioned rides that Bob ran and hide away from the town in “The Oeder Games” from Season 5. And knowing that earlier in the trailer, you have the workers and also the banner celebrating the Wharf’s supposed 80th anniversary being opened to the public, it might be possible that we would also get some history on the Wharf also. But all those questions being answered depends on the runtime of the film and how it would be handled in the film that could possibly last for almost two hours, maybe an additional 15 minutes tops. But other than that, it appears that the Fischoeders will have a huge role in the movie, and for anyone who are fans of the brothers, this might be your biggest day come May 27. At least we know that Felix living in the treehouse in Season 5 isn’t a one-time thing when seeing him climbing down, wearing a navy uniform, as Louise, Tina, and Gene are being carted off from the cable car with Louise grabbing the wires to possibly stop the ride.

Bob and Linda sing with a bag of food in Bob’s hand when coming out of the restaurant, I feel like this should be the opening to the film because again, they’re coming out of the restaurant. The calm before the storm. Getting ready for what could be one of the biggest holidays for the Belchers, especially with Bob, when it comes to selling food. Bosco is there when looking at the sinkhole with the barricades surrounding the area in front of the restaurant and being pelted by dirt.

And of course, to close out the trailer, other than Linda apparently being naked when wearing Gene’s burger suit in helping Bob to make some money, you have the kids being surrounded by a mysterious figure. I don’t think that’s Hugo since Sam Seder from one of the episodes of his podcast stated that he’s in the film. So it has to be one of the workers from the trailer park that spotted the Belcher kids since if you look at the background of the setting, it appears to be the trailer park at the back of the rundown apartment complex. Either a random worker working for the Wharf or maybe someone with a hard hat telling the kids to go take a detour because of the sinkhole. Probably the first knowing the shape and background, but again, we only have less than five months to speculate this shit. Just hope COVID doesn’t fuck this up and attempt to ruin our summer plans. We just want our damn bread already! Is that so hard to ask?

But that’ll do it for the breakdown for the trailer. Don’t worry about the review to “Touch of Eval(uations)”, it’s coming. The announcement to the trailer came out unexpectedly last week leading up to the college football game, so hold your horses, it’s coming. And until then, follow me over at Tumblr, Twitter, and Instagram for updates and behind-the-scenes stuff regarding stuff. And y’all should know the drill by now...

Donate over at PayPal, Patreon, and Ko-fi pages in hopes to help your boy out in both improving the page and also paying the bills to keep the lights on. And until then, the next five months are going to be interesting. Full of speculations.
